I was curious to see if there was a correlation between a host going through mental issues and them ending up with a substantial amount of tulpas. I created this survey to gauge the correlation. This
(added a fourth question. If you submitted before I added it, then please submit again. I'll probably end up discarding the submissions from before adding that question)
I have zero mental issues and one Tulpa, and she seems healthy too. But this is skewed and only asks people with tulpas, and it only gathers data from a single group. It’s not very valid and can’t be generalized outside of the tulpa community... but I guess that’s the point.
While not wanting to argue, just giving some thoughts. in general, as I'm sort of an experimental design geek ^^;...
Firstly, since @Felight is only doing a correlation (and remember, you should never draw conclusions based on correlations!) they wouldn't need a control group, That's for experiments where you're actually trying to prove causation.
What's done is done (as this survey has concluded), it could be worth designing a new survey/experiment ( if @Deleted User is interested) to measure this datapoint. It technically wouldn't be a control group, but it could in theory help with confounds.
During one of my classes, I recall one major survey years ago that found an interesting correlation with longevity, I believe in the UK. They did a study and found that people who were more obese were healthier and living longer than those who were skinny! There was a positive correlation with being overweight and health. How could this be? Well, they never actually asked the people if they smoked or not, and smokers tended to be skinnier than nonsmokers. After adjusting for smokers, they found the trend reversed.
Where am I getting at? As long as we're not drawing conclusions, Apollo is fine given they are within their own expectations. Hopefully with their data we can design other surveys to get into more specifics. Science usually builds on something like a correlation with a more focused study to hone in on something, then a more focused study on that, etc. Personally I would like to see more studies that measure something in populations without tulpas and populations with tulpas, to see if there are any differences, though that doesn't have to be the purpose of this study....
And that's why I'm always encouraging people to design their own experiments and surveys, and I'll encourage people to fill them out ^^
Yeah, I'm treating the whole thing as correlation and not causation, only giving some minor speculation here and there for causes, but never concluding that those causes are precisely correct by the data, since there's really no telling
Need some people who know a thing or two about survey design and data to help me improve a list of questions I've built for an upcoming survey. DM me please.(edited)
Hi everyone! We are psychology sudents at Bethel University and are conducting a research study on tulpamancy. We posted 4 months ago on /r/Tulpas asking for several community members to give us feedb
I am working on an imposition guide and I am looking for people to interview to get better informed about how the process went for other people. If you are experienced with imposition and would be willing to be interviewed please DM me. I likely won't get to you immediately, so please be patient.
Alright, I have the first draft of a potential survey drawn up. I need feedback and suggestions. Please do not respond, as your responses will not be counted when I actually do the survey. https://goo.gl/forms/kjl0BOahGInOpg4y1
All questions pertain to ONLY the FIRST and INTENTIONALLY CREATED tulpa in a system. Please do not respond if you do not fit that profile - it keeps the data more accurate!
Please complete once per tulpa. You can submit another one using the same link. For best results and highest chance of being included in the graphs, use the "other" option as little as possible.
for kopase's survey you should add another option for the "personality reflects the gender" cause for me it isn't yes or no it's more like "sometimes" or even unsure would be a good answer. he's more weaker than a guy should usually be and shy and sweet and cute but then sometimes he can be more masculine and serious so ??

That's true. Though I think maybe I should separate it by rest of system and main person that forced the tulpa, yeah? Since tulpas can force tulpas and I was more wondering if the connection of the main forcer is higher, but then that brings the problem of how to ask that question in a way that walk-ins can answer...

And again, don't take it unless you want to kill time.

These are beta versions for feedback and the answers will be wiped when I post the real one.(edited)
